The Waikato Institute for Leisure and Sport Studies (known as WILSS, pronounced as WILLS) offers a range of programmes designed to enhance personal development and increase participants' contribution to the community and volunteer sector and workplace.

WILSS is a charitable trust delivering quality education in leadership and volunteer development to meet the changing needs of our communities of Aotearoa New Zealand. These include schools, sport, volunteers, communities, organisations and workplaces.
We are changing our business practices to become more responsible towards the environment. This reflects our commitment to our deep rooted belief of developing New Zealanders with knowldege and skills to ensure sustainable and healthy communities for future generations.
WILSS is registered as a private training establishment with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), with certificates and awards recognised nationally.
Over the past 23 years, we have developed an industry-wide reputation for providing a supportive learning environment, first class facilitators and industry cotnacts to participants in the Greater Waikato and the Central Plateau regions.
WILSS is committed to education and training advocating a vocational and practical teaching approach that builds on participants current skills. Programmes are rewarding, practical and immediately applicable to real life. We have developed strong relationships with key organisations within different sectors, ensuring participants gain additional benefits through industry experience, practical skill application and the development of employment networks.
WILSS maintains active working partnerships with the University of Waikato, Sport Waikato, Blue Mercury Leadership, Skills Active, the Sir Peter Blake Trust, NZQA and other key stakeholder industry groups.
