Sport Leadership/Team Captains

Sport leadership programmes can help to develop your leaders as student coaches, umpires, sport administrators, heads of house, prefects and event managers.
Sport leadership programmes provide students with opportunities to upskill in leadership techniques and gain an understanding of the specific roles and expectations of being leaders in sport.
Core components
Junior leaders - 1.5 hour session
This fun, interactive session helps develop basic skills in leading others, staying positive and motivated while ensuring a cohesive team performance.
Senior leaders - 2 hour session
The senior programme encourages students to reflect on their roles in sport and the transferable skills they have as leaders. It involves exploring values, responsibilities and people management techniques while networking with leaders across all sport codes. Sport Leadership modules can be custom designed for your students and aligned with curriculum delivery at your school. Modules provide interactive, contextural situations for students to develop and apply the key competencies of the NZ Curriculum.

"I have been delighted with the way the WILSS leadership programmes connected with our students. The sessions are interactive, balanced and well paced. They provide real opportunities for students to challenge themselves. The sensitive acknowledgement of our multicultural environment was very much appreciated too in the planning of the programme, which was tailored to meet our wishes and needs. The warmth and expertise of the staff assisted significantly in the success of the programme at our school." Mary Ann Baxter, Principle HAMILTON GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL |
