Learner Spotlight: Kim Roots - NZ Certificate in Business (Level 4)

Meet Kim Roots from REAP (Rural Education Activities and Programme), Central Plateau in Taupo.

Where are you from: I was born in Surrey in England and came to NZ with my husband and two children in 2005.

What is your role and where: I work for REAP Central Plateau in Taupo. I'm the Early Childhood Coordinator. My role is to facilitate early childhood education through program delivery, playgroups and community engagement. I am the President of Pregnancy Help Inc Taupo.  It is a registered charity providing free practical support to anyone caring for tamariki/ pepi in Aotearoa. Te tautoko me te tohutohu awhina mo te matuatanga. We have seven branches across Aotearoa and have absolutely no referral criteria, this means our services are available to everyone.

What I enjoy: I am passionate about community development and supporting, empowering everyone to lead a positive life. I enjoy the outdoors and the rural environment. l live on a lifestyle block which I share with my husband, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses and 4 chickens!
My happy place is with my horses and spending time with my family.

Why I joined WILSS business course: I saw the course advertised via email from Community Waikato, I thought what a great opportunity to upskill and enhance my leadership and professional growth in management business and governance.
